First Day

First of all, this Kibbutz Lavi is just beautiful. The room is so comfortable and the b'fast buffet was grand. We got on thr bus at 8am and took off for Rosh Pina, the area of the first settlements in Israel. Strolled around cobblestone streets and wondered at the stone buildings, some of whice have been there forever. Left there and headed to Safed, pronounced Sfat, where we visited ancient synagogues, donated some of the tzedukah we all collected and shopped for artwork, jewelry, etc. Click on the link below to see  the group outside one of those synagogues. In Sfat, we lunched at the Hameiri Dairy, which has been in the same family for 6 generations. Left Sfat and met Colonlel Kobi Marom, former commander of the Golani Brigade, for a geo-political tour along the northern border with Lebanon. We climbed to an observation point at Har Adir and saw the location of the kidnapping of the 3 IDF soldiers over 3 years ago. From there we drove to Kibbutz Yiron and toured the Galil Mountain Winery, where we tasted 3 delicious wines and put some more money into the Israeli economy. As if we had not eaten enough for the day, we then has the most remarkable 7 course dinner, which culminated in cactus milk ice cream- non dairy, of course. It is now approaching 11pm and we have a 6am wake up call, so I am out of here...
